As one would expect being on the equator,
the islands have a tropical climate and are hot and humid most of
the year. The temperature ranges between 22-32 degrees (average
27 degrees) and there are rainy and dry (Gravana) seasons.
The rainy season is generally October-November and March-May, however
this does not mean constant rain. It generally falls in heavy infrequent
bursts. The dry season is June-September with Southern breezes and
moderate temperatures.
The months of December to February are the hottest months with temperatures
between 25-32 degrees. Temperatures in the mountains are cooler and
fresher and are often shrouded in mist and cloud. The island of Principe
is more humid than its neighbour, Sao Tome.
